The Decision That Saved a Multi-Million Dollar Business

In 1997 my father built a company. In 2006 he made one decision that probably saved it: he built a personal brand. Here is why that same decision is sitting in front of you right now.

You Are Losing Opportunities Right Now

You're losing opportunities by not building your personal brand. That's not a scare tactic. That's the lesson of my own family's story, and I want to walk you through it.

Here's a little bit of history. My father, Frank Suarez, founded a company in 1997 called NaturalSlim. That company still exists today. It's a family-owned business. We now have somewhere around 600 employees in nine countries, and we've created a lot of help for a lot of people.

But here's the part most people miss. In 1997 he built a brand, and that brand was called NaturalSlim. It wasn't until 2006 that he really started focusing on the personal brand. And I can tell you one thing: NaturalSlim would probably not be around today if it wasn't for that decision. The big moment when he said, hm, I'm going to build my personal brand, was 2006, with the launch of a book called El Poder del Metabolismo, the power of your metabolism. He took the world by storm, starting with Puerto Rico. He got on stages, delivered seminars, introduced his book to a lot of people. One decision. That's what saved the business.

Your commitment has to be greater than your fear of failure.

A Brand vs. a Personal Brand

What's the difference between a brand and a personal brand? A brand has a product, a service, a company, and overall positioning to introduce people to those products and services.

A personal brand is personal. The person himself, the individual, is putting themselves on stages, writing books, delivering webinars and seminars, doing content on social media. Like right now, the way I'm doing it. You're watching this. I am building a personal brand.

Here's what you might not know about me: I actually own and operate 10 different businesses. And some of them depend on my personal brand. For example, I have a marketing agency that made the Inc. 5000 list four times in a row. Without my personal brand, that company would not be what it is today. I've been able to use my personal brand to generate leads, prospects, clients, you name it. It helps my business grab attention and expand.

The Bridge Between You and Your Prospects

In 2026 and beyond, this is going to continue to be an opportunity, because social media gave us something that was never possible before. We couldn't do this on television and actually afford it back in the day. Right now, we can go to these platforms, communicate, generate attention, and eventually convert that attention into sales, revenue, clients, and prospects.

I can tell you that in the USA we have served close to 2 million customers with the NaturalSlim brand, and most of them came in because my father put the energy behind creating a personal brand. We generated hundreds of millions of views a month. Billions of views of his content over time. All of that attention converted into clients of his brand because they trust him.

The first stage is building a connection with people. That's what you want to do. Building a personal brand is like building a bridge. On one side is you. On the other side are your prospects. Right now there is a major gap between the two, and with your personal brand you're trying to bridge it. You connect yourself with that prospect so you can eventually introduce your brand, whatever that may be: a product or a service you developed that takes their desire for improvement to the next level.

Where Most People Get Stuck

Here's where most people get stuck in the creation of a personal brand: they don't feel confident. You might not feel comfortable in front of a camera. You might feel that you don't look good, that you need to lose some weight, that your clothes aren't good enough, that your makeup doesn't work, or whatever. Those things are very, very normal. I can tell you because I've been through it.

I myself don't have a giant personal brand with millions of followers across the world. I have produced a lot of views of my own educational marketing training. But I can tell you that if I hadn't done what I've done, I wouldn't be here today. I've generated connections, partnerships, businesses, relationships over the years that opened up many doors, all because of my commitment to building my personal brand.

Let me take you back to a very difficult day for me: November 13, 2017. Actually, more than that day, it was the year 2017 when I said, I got to start. I got to get going. I'm going to take advantage of these opportunities. I did my first seminar in January of 2017, talking about Amazon, because I was good in the subject of Amazon. I did another one in February. Then I started building content and doing webinars. I was definitely very uncertain. I was very nervous. I didn't really believe in myself. I didn't really trust in myself. But you know what I did? I pushed through those barriers and I just got started.

Your Commitment Has to Beat Your Fear

That's what you have to do. You just have to start. Your commitment has to be greater than your fear of failure. If you do this consistently, I promise you, right here and now, that you will get better with time.

When you start creating content today, you're probably not going to be great. Just like if you pick up a basketball for the first time ever, you're probably not going to get it inside the basket. Maybe you get lucky once out of every 10 times. That's the way it works. Compare my delivery from 2017 to now and the difference is dramatic. Aside from the fact that I look much older, with a lot more white hair and a lot of years behind me, my delivery is quite different. And it doesn't have to take you eight or nine years like it took me. It might happen much faster for you.

If you want to talk about long-term success, the long-term marketing game, think about value. Value is anything you acquire that you have the ability to give to somebody else, some other company, some other group, and they benefit from it. I became valuable in the game of marketing, so people put me in their offices, at their tables, asking for advice, guidance, direction. I also delivered a lot of value in the subject of artificial intelligence because I got obsessed over it and figured out how to use it to give more value. Value, value, value. That is the thing that opens the door that could be exactly what you've been dreaming about. All you got to do is start.
