The Long-Term Marketing Plan Nobody Talks About (But Every Brand Needs)

Attention is the most valuable commodity on the planet, and you earn it by giving value away. Here is how the long-term value strategy and short-term lead capture connect into one machine that builds trust, leads, and buyers.

Attention Is the Real Currency

At the end of the day, you need the number one most valuable commodity on this planet. Not gold. Not diamonds. Not platinum. You need attention. And the way you earn attention that lasts is long-term value. That's how it works.

The long-term value strategy is composed of three main categories: social media content, blog writing, and podcasting. Each of those can be divided into many areas. Social media alone has YouTube long-form, reels across all these platforms, and so on. But here is what they all have in common: they are long-form value. They are here for generations to come.

Some of these platforms have an extra advantage. A podcast or a YouTube long-form channel is here to stay for a long time, and it is searchable. YouTube happens to be a search engine. Podcast is also a search engine. Instagram reels and Facebook posts are not as searchable. But all of it is long-term value working for you.

The Two Worlds Are Connected

On the other side of long-term value sits short-term lead capture value. And here is the important thing to recognize: these two worlds are going to be connected.

The more you do the long-form value, the bigger your pocket of people gets. And that pocket of people is who you're going to use to consume your lead capture value. The people watching your content, consuming it, getting that value, those are the people you target when you create marketing campaigns on Meta, Facebook and Instagram, on TikTok, on YouTube and Google.

The message is simple: "Hey, I want to thank you for consuming my content. I put together something very cool for you so you can get additional value from the one you've been getting." That's the bridge between the two worlds.

The Five Lead Capture Plays That Work

So what do you actually give away? Five main categories: mini courses, giveaways, contests and challenges, ebooks or PDFs, and quizzes. As simple as that. Yes, there are other forms, like early access to a product. But the ones that have succeeded at a high level are these five.

Take an example. You put together a mini course: five easy ways to grow an organic garden. That's going to generate attention, because you know what's out there in the world? Millions of people trying to grow an organic garden. If you give away that value, that puts you in a different state compared to your competitors. You sell high-quality products that help people grow organic gardens? Great. Give them value that shows them exactly how to do it.

Why Giving Value Away Wins

When you give value, people feel they can trust you, because you're giving them something without expecting something in return. It establishes authority, and that matters because most companies out there are not even trying to establish themselves as authorities. They just want to sell a product or service.

It creates engagement. When you give away value, people interact with it. They feel grateful. They want to like, comment, engage, even share it. People don't share advertising campaigns that are trying to sell something. People do share value, because most of us on planet Earth have good intentions and we like to help others. Take advantage of that.

And it produces leads. Courses, ebooks, quizzes, resources, they capture phone numbers and emails. You've heard the saying in the game of marketing: the money is in the list. So grow your list consistently. It also makes you stand out. If there's a million companies selling organic gardening products, only a very small percentage of them are giving away value. The reason most people don't do it? To be honest, because they're lazy, and because they don't believe in the long-term strategy of building a value-driven company.

Value Builds Relationships That Buy

In my company, NaturalSlim, we have people buying from us because they feel a commitment to our company because of how much value we've given them. When my father passed away in 2021, we had people call us and say, "Listen, I've been following Frank Suarez's content for five years. I never bought anything from you. I'm ready to become your client." That is the long-term strategy building relationships. You develop brand ambassadors by doing this.

It also demonstrates goodwill. You have an intention to help others, so go out there and show the world that intention. People start believing in you long-term. I run into people all the time who talk to me about my email list, about my podcast. There are people who join Attention Getting Media consistently because of the value I give them, because they believe in their hearts that I have a real intention to help them along their journey.

Then Convert: The Thank-You Offer

Last but not least, I am a marketer. We're in the game of business. We need to convert attention into revenue. The senior strategy here is to build audiences that buy your products.

If you want to be like everybody else, skip all of this and go straight for the sale. But the reason you can be different, and build a great business on today's modern opportunities, is that you can give value first and then run campaigns that say: "I want to thank you for watching my content. I want to thank you for reading my blog, for being a subscriber, for listening to my podcast. Because of that, I have a special offer for you, for my listener, my subscriber, my fan and my follower. And this is only available to you."

When you do this, it just hits different. It opens the door to real expansion. People buy your products not because they have to, but because they want to be a part of your world. That is a long-term strategy. Do it consistently and I guarantee you, you will win.
