You’ve probably heard the words “Company Culture.”<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

It is, in all honesty, a very powerful thing to be a part of.<\/span><\/p>\n

But there are some unfortunate sides to it that no one likes to talk about, including me, because it is my least favorite part of business.<\/span><\/p>\n

Because molding your company culture is so important to the health of an organization and the employees in it, there are hard decisions every business owner has to make.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes we find out that not everyone is the right fit, and not everyone will be on the same page with your business goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is why hiring the right people in the beginning is so important.<\/span><\/p>\n

Even with a great hiring system in place, you need to have clear expectations for each position and team members.<\/span><\/p>\n

We call these our “Core Values.”<\/span><\/p>\n

This allows you, them, and the whole organization to move forward and grow.<\/span><\/p>\n

It also allows you to track down problems and remove people if they become detrimental to your business.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s like the old saying, “one bad apple can spoil the bunch.”<\/span><\/p>\n

And if you discover a ‘bad apple,’ it’s best to get rid of them as soon as possible.<\/span><\/p>\n

You might be wondering, “if you have such a great hiring system, why would things go wrong?”<\/span><\/p>\n

That’s a great question.<\/span><\/p>\n

The answer is nothing is 100%. But, you also don’t know what is going on in everyone’s life.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are always external factors that could cause a good employee, over time, to stray.<\/span><\/p>\n

And it’s great to give 2nd chances if they just need to help with their job. But, if the person is being unethical, they need to be let go. Period.<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s better to slow down production and spread the word you’re hiring while filling the vacant position.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rather than let other people on the team be negatively affected.<\/p>\n

My father had an analogy that said, “if you have a body part that’s bleeding out, it’s better to cut it off than lose the whole body.”<\/span><\/p>\n

It really is one of my least favorite parts of the business, but one individual can put others in the organization trying to flourish and prosper at risk.<\/span><\/p>\n

That being said, seeing people go on bad terms isn’t good practice; you should always wish them the best and consider them your friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

The words “Company Culture” are built by the employees you hire and keep around.<\/span><\/p>\n

Along with your core values, this is what makes up your Company Culture that aims for what you are trying to achieve.<\/span><\/p>\n
